Spring Is Around The Corner!
We will be beginning sprinkler system start-ups in a few weeks or so for those using city or well water for their sprinkler systems. Everyone has to fill out our start-up form to get service so we don't lose track of your information. The link to our sign-up form is at the button below.
If you didn't get your backflow preventer pre-winterized as shown on our site before the freeze last season and you have sustained some damage, let us know as soon as possible if you want us to fix it so we can get you up and going before the spring rush. We try to keep a supply of the most common parts on hand, but it is best to let us know early in case we do have to order. For those having issues understanding how to pre-winterize their backflow preventers or pumps, we hope to get videos made this summer showing the process so you can prepare in the fall.
Once sprinkler start-ups are in full bloom we will update our blog daily on where we will be as we have done for the past 10 years or so, and those who want text updates will get a notification the night before we will be in their area, or worst-case scenario, early in the morning the day of. We encourage you to check the blog daily anyway because there may be additional information of importance, and we have no control over service providers whether text messages or emails go through or not. We have sent mass text messages and emails in the past that didn't reach a few of the recipients. Those with Yahoo, AOL, and Hotmail seem to be the worst. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some of those customers do not receive this newsletter.

Sprinkler Start-ups
Pricing this year has not changed from last year and is posted below.
Our tentative start date this year is Monday, April 1, but this is for those who use city water or a well for their irrigation. We haven't heard yet when water will be released for pressurized irrigation systems. When we receive an update it will likely be posted on our blog. We already have a few major repairs scheduled for the end of March to get a head start on the season.
If you are on city water and you know you have major repairs needed, be sure to let us know quickly so we can get to them before the onslaught of major start-ups begin. We already have a few major repairs scheduled for the end of March as we always do, so please let us know as soon as possible so we can get you scheduled.
Mother nature gives us a hand by keeping our lawns watered naturally for most of April, which is a big help while we rush to get everyone's water on. All customers must sign up at our site for sprinkler start-up services. We can turn on your sprinkler system, adjust or replace sprinkler heads, find lost solenoids, trace wiring issues, repair and replace backflow preventers, and more to get your system in shape for the season.
You can view our pricing for 2024 below, and it is also on our website, and on the form we use for signups.Simple repairs may be able to be done at the time of the start-up for an additional charge, but major repairs will need to be scheduled at a later date so we can get to all start-ups in a timely manner.
Sprinkler System Startup Cost For 2024
- Package A: Turn sprinkler system on from main water source ONLY. (NO REPAIRS OR ADJUSTMENTS) - $30
- Package B: Package "A" plus make minor adjustments to heads if needed and setting the sprinkler timer to spring operation if available at the time of service - $55 for 1-5 zones, and $5 per each additional zones (NO REPAIRS)
- Package C: Package "A" plus a backflow test - $40 (NO REPAIRS OR ADJUSTMENTS)
- Package D: Package "B" plus a backflow test - $95 for 1-5 zones, and $5 per each additional zones (NO REPAIRS)
Out Of Area Trip Charge (If applicable) $45

Lawn Aeration
We are happy to report that we have kept pricing the same as last year for lawn aeration.
We prefer to wait until your sprinkler system is up and running to do aerations so that the ground can be watered after and you get the best benefit from the service. This is especially important if overseeding. However, if you would like your aeration done prior to your sprinkler system running, we can accommodate you. During the Spring, there is USUALLY enough rainfall to accommodate a lawn aeration, but this is Idaho, so we just don't know what the weather will bring.
Lawn aeration cost is determined by lot size, not grass area needing aerated. For those who may not understand square footage, we can tell you that 80% of last year's aeration were under 10,000 square feet, and the average cost of aeration (dividing total of aerations completed by the total amount earned) was $99. Our lowest aeration was $55, and our highest was $395.

Yard Clean-up
This year we are adding yard clean-up to our services. This will include:
- Weed removal from beds
- Bush pruning/removal
- Small & medium tree trimming and removal
- Dead grass, leaves, pine cones
- Litter & dog feces removal
- Bark & rock placement

Backflow Testing
Backflow testing isn't just for backflow preventers on sprinkler systems. We do backflow testing year-around for restaurants, medical and dental offices, car washes, commercial buildings..... any place that has a backflow preventer installed. The majority of our tests are from April through September for sprinkler systems.
Don't forget! Backflow testing is required annually by Idaho Law. During sprinkler blowouts, we found MANY that have never been tested, or not tested in a long time and even a few that were removed and bypassed. Unfortunately, as state-licensed backflow testers, we agreed to a code of ethics that in part requires us to alert the water purveyor of backflow preventers not compliant with state law. Definitely not the most pleasant part of our job, that's for sure! We can test your backflow and repair or replace the unit if needed to meet state requirements. Window & Patio Screens
A "holy" window screen is not a spiritual item. We can make them "whole" again. Frames bent, we can repair them. Missing screens? We can make new ones. We can repair patio screens too.

Fence Repair
We can replace broken fence posts, repair and install gates, replace stringers and pickets, as well as bring your existing fence to a near new condition by cleaning. We do not have a webpage up yet for fencing, but email or call us if you want more information.

Roof Vent Repair
We can replace old cracked or broken plastic roof vents with metal roof vents, and replace any which have sustained hail damage. We can also repair or replace damaged plumbing and fan vents as well. Do you have water penetrating your bath fan vent and dripping on the floor? We can fix that.

Dryer Vent Cleaning
Let The Maintenance Shop clear your dryer vent so your dryer will run more effectively and help prevent a dryer fire. We repair and replace damaged dryer venting as well.

Gutter Repair
Damaged or clogged gutters are the leading cause of fascia, soffit, and siding damage. Clogged gutters fill with water and spill over onto the fascia, can soak under the fascia and damage soffit, and run down the siding eventually rotting it out. The weight of the water and or debris can actually pull the gutter away from the fascia and cause even more damage. Regular gutter maintenance is vital to keep from what can turn into very expensive repairs. We can clean and repair damaged gutters, as well as the fascia, soffit, and siding.
