With temperatures expected to drop toward the end of the week, now is a good time to pre-winterize your system. Use the link at the bottom of our posts to find instructions based on your backflow type. I’ve always recommended pre-winterizing your backflow preventers as soon as you stop watering—there’s no reason to wait, regardless of the weather forecast.
This advice is essential if you have above-ground backflow preventers or an above-ground filter on a pressurized irrigation system, which should also be emptied. In-ground assemblies won’t be affected for several weeks, and sprinkler piping is generally safe until well into December or even January. Although a cold front is approaching, it’s not expected to last long and should warm up again, as it did after our last brief chill. When temperatures do drop, it typically takes most of the night, with warming starting soon after.
On another note, Justin will be away from work for a while to care for his father, who is very ill and needs support until he regains strength. With only about 3-4 weeks left in the season, we hope Justin will be able to return before it ends.

Hey quick favor from Brian and Le ROI, we love your animals, I love dogs who want to say “HI”, and I am fine with that, but 2 things PLEASE! 1) Try to pick up the dog poop, I wear gloves for my protection, and will take extra precautions to avoid dragging the air hose across poop, but still gross…… 2) We don’t want to be responsible for pets who are able to “shuck and jive” better than a BSU football team member and escape, please keep dogs locked up inside! I have 2 memories from last year that I would prefer not to re-live…#seeyahinthefield
