It looks like Justin will not be able to work with us again for quite some time if at all. He is visiting with a surgeon today regarding his back. When you are sent directly to a surgeon for a consultation, that usually isn’t good news. Justin as worked with us off and on for nearly 15 years.
We are looking for someone to assist with all the sprinkler work we get from now through the end of the year including sprinkler blowouts. If you know someone in need of work that is available 30-40 hours a week and has the skills required please pass this info on to them. Here is what we are looking for:
This position requires someone able to work on their own as well as in a team, and must be willing to drive to several locations per day for service calls, routed out maximizing time and miles driven, and must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle. (Truck preferred) Must have their own basic tools.
Must have verifiable experience in the following:
- Winterizing and de-winterizing backflow preventers
- Spring start-up (city systems, dual systems, pressurized irrigation, wells, and pumps)
- Diagnosing and repairing leaks in sprinkler lines (PVC and poly pipe)
- Sprinkler head and nozzle adjustments and replacements
- Diagnosing, repairing, and replacing zone valves (Rainbird, Hunter, Watermaster, Irritrol, Orbit, Weathermatic, Nelson, Toro)
- Digging up and replacing main & drain valves on city and well systems
- Repairing, replacing, rebuilding manifolds
- Sprinkler wiring
- Operation, repair, or replacement of various sprinkler timers (Rainbird, Toro, Hunter, Orbit, Nelson)
- Sprinkler blowouts and winterization of various system types (city, pressurized irrigation, wells, pumps, etc.)
Knowledge in backflow preventer installation requirements and repairs, and other home repair skills a plus.

With Jesse digging 4-foot holes on a regular basis to repair main sprinkler valves, as well as all the work he does on repairs and spring start-ups, he can’t do them all on his own. We are getting way to busy for that. I help when I can on start-ups, but I also have backflow tests to do, and today will be removing a backflow preventer that is in the ground and putting in a new one above ground. Jesse will be digging another hole in Eagle today, and possibly doing some more start-ups in the later afternoon.
We have been getting mostly Package “B” requests, and with many of them it is found through the inspection that repairs are needed, which are generally taken care of during the same visit when possible. Mostly head replacements here and there, but it does take away some of our time to get to the next property.
We are still making our rounds to get sprinkler systems turned on and ready for operation. We have had some customers turn on their own systems and then contact us if there are any issues which are must easier to address, and gives us more time to schedule a repair. It is better to have all or most zones running than none at all.
