We finished up the sprinkler blowouts in Caldwell, and did a number in Nampa, but it is slow going, so may have to spend two days there to finish. As I have said before, the lines in the ground are fine, and blowing out fine, but any properties with piping above ground to connect to are mostly frozen since many did not open hose bibs, valves, remove filter caps, etc. We have been heating up the galvanized pipe with a propane torch to get them going, but we obviously can't do that with any plastic pipe above ground. I believe we have 19 to finish up in Nampa, which under normal circumstances can be accomplished in a day, or day and a half. With current conditions it will most likely take two days to finish.
It is still cold at night, but the day temperatures are on the rise, which should help improve sprinkler blowouts by melting some of the ice in exposed pipe. The piping in the ground is deep enough in most yards that it most likely won't freeze for another month, and that is if the temperatures drop down in the teens again and stays there for a length of time. At this time, the ground is still warm.
I have had several emails and texts asking if it is too late to blow out sprinklers. My answer is, do you REALLY think I would be out in this weather all day every day if it was? I have plenty of other work waiting for me that is INSIDE that I could be doing. For those still in doubt, click these two links for pictures taken yesterday of a few systems we did in Caldwell. We take pictures of each home we blow out when no one is home because every year we get a few who try to fight their sprinkler blowout invoice saying we didn't do the work. Of course, it is just a poor attempt to get out of paying, but we get the proof to stop those why try it in their tracks. https://mightytext.net/zHBVwU and https://mightytext.net/z2ZjT8
Based on yesterday's activity, we will be updating the schedule again on our stats page early this morning.
